Well woke up on Saturday morning looked out at the weather and didnt like the look of it. But people with cancer look at the day they have to face every day and think they dont like the look of it. So we got packed up met friends who were in our team. Got lost on the way but we didnt care. Got to Ascot unpacked everything and got in the queue of people to parade down Ascot High Street. Then the heavens opened. Nobody cared the atmosphere was electric with people singing etc., We carried on until we eventually got back to the silver ring. Then the fun started. We sorted out the kids put up the gazebo which took off more than once. Set up the lunch tent and off we went. Although the day was very very wet we made the best of a challenge as so cancer sufferers. Personally at 3am in the morning I went to the toilet shivering shaking feeling quite sorry for myself until I pulled myself back into line. "Somewhere in the world there is a person suffering having treatment being sick and in pain. Why should I complain about being cold" I ran up the steps back to the silver ring and took over from the person walking and took on a new lease of life. The whole 24 hours was absolutely amazing and I cant wait to do it all again next year. Thank you to the committee and the teams the people behind the scenes and lets hope that next year the weather will be kinder to us. But if not we will survive. xx

Wow !! what an experience that was !! I am so glad Joanna decided to bring a team to Relay for Life and I'm so glad you have a rule that under 18's can't be without an adult, because I wouldn't have missed it for the world. I am so proud of my 14 year old little girl and seeing her friends rally together for this event was very special indeed. I loved every minute, the procession, the competitions, the bands, the silent disco, the fruit (wierdly because Joanna ate 4 bananas and an apple whilst there - totally unheard of !!) We are all looking forward to next year already - planning an equally impossible name to pronounce;) Thank you Cancer Research for showing our daughter that she should be proud to be a survivor and thank you for all that do.

well what an amazin emotional day we all had as one of the survivors i was made to feel special for the day and as i was still having my treatment the week before i felt like i could walk forever, we were a new team and didnt really understand how it all worked as we hadnt gone to any meeting, our team captain was very busy we were made to feel very welcome and like part of a big family. next year we will work even harder to raise lots of money for cancer research we now have so many ideas and we are all buzzing. doing this relay with my family and friend in memory of my step father and surporing my neice who is a survivor and myself was truly one of the best things ive done.

This was my 1st Relay but based on the Glee Club team comments from last year my expectations for this event were very high, but they didn't come anywhere near the actual experiences of the event!!! The warmth and support that comes from everyone, the committee, the volunteers & all the teams is overwhelming. The amazing sight of so many survivor's walking together round the track behind the band gives real hope. The wonderful sight of the Candle of Hope bags lining the track and the very moving ceremony, the wonderful readings - which can only be really appreciated by being there. . . . the video was moving but nowhere near the experience of being there ..Knowing you have been part of something that really will save lives and that you have had a ball in the process...My emotions have been on a rollercoaster ride that would put Disney World to shame. Roll on next year XXXXXX

Everything and Everyone who helped tomake it happen are amazing people. As a "Relay virgin" everything was new and fresh .... from the site of the 2 smiling guys soaking wet on the front gate who gave us a warm welcome and pointed us where to go, to the lady who signed us in on the desk, to the fantastic guys making us TV and Coffee, the members of the organising team who still had a smile at 3am in the Morning [the chap even managed to crack a joke at my choice of Greece to watch on the DVD!] - the rain didnt dampen our spirits one tiny little bit ..... the 50+ sruvivors gave us all the energy we could ask for .... and to have so many of the organisers also as survivors!
